Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY; born 17 March 1998), known professionally as Grimes is a Canadian musician who sings, writes songs, recording producer, and singer. Her early work can be called "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4and influenced by hip-hop, electronic, and rock. Many of her lyrics touch to science fiction and feminist issues. Five studio albums were published by the singer. Grimes was born in Vancouver, and then moved to Montreal in 2000. Grimes started releasing her music as a solo act in the early 2000s. There were albums out through Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa in the year 2010. Following her signing with 4AD the band gained popularity thanks to Visions, her third studio album. Visions is comprised of the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion". It was also winner of the Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. After this, the fourth album of her studio, Art Angels, was released in 2015 , and was met with critical praise as several publications have rated it as the top album of the year. [6] Her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, was made available in the year 2000. Grimes is also a judge in Alter Ego, a music contest. Grimes was also a participant in the Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
